The older type of filling is called amalgam. This is a silver type filling. There are still indications for this material. The new wave of fillings today, is the Tooth Colored Fillings (composites). The advantages of tooth colored fillings areas follows:

• Match color of teeth
• They are hard immediately
• They are bonded (Glued) to your tooth.
• The bonded filling strengthens the tooth more so than a silver filling.
• Remove less tooth structure to place.
