Dental Implants

This is a procedure with a small surgical site a Titanium cylinder is placed in the jaw bone. This replaces the root of the missing tooth. After healing period, a crown is fabricated to fit to the implant. This enables you to replace a missing tooth without touching your natural teeth. This is an alternative to a Fixed Bridge where natural teeth are prepared. Implants are 96-97 percent successful and safe. Implants can also be placed in a person with no teeth. The implants provide an attachment for a denture to clip to. A lower denture(on bottom) has a tendency to move because of many moving parts (tongue etc.).

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a titanium screw placed in the jaw bone in a place where a tooth is missing. Placing an implant is like putting a new root into the bone. After 3-6 months of healing a crown can be placed on the implant.

The old way of replacing a missing tooth was fabricating a bridge. This procedure requires the preparation of at least 2 teeth . An implant allows you to replace a missing tooth without touching a perfectly good tooth.

Implants have come down in cost depending on whom places them. You always pay more if a specialist provides the procedure. We can provide implant placement and crown for slightly less cost than a 3 unit fixed bridge.

Most implants today are cylindrical threaded titanium screws. The procedure is usually not painful and less invasive than removing a tooth.

Implants have a 97% success rate and have lasted as long as 28 years in our patients.

Care for implants are the same as caring for the rest of your mouth. Brushing, Flossing, and regular dental visits.

How long does implant placement take?

Once the implant placement surgery is completed (usually in an hour or two) the healing process begins, and that can take as long as six months. Additionally, the fitting of the permanent replacement tooth is usually accomplished in one to three weeks. Your dentist ( Dr Lovit) may provide you with a temporary replacement to help you eat and speak normally until the permanent replacement is ready. If your bone structure is strong enough, however, your dentist may be able to place the implant and replacement tooth in one visit.
